Interactive Displays
An interactive display provides for opportunities often missed by common display mediums; even digital ones. Take relevance for one thing. To draw viewers in, content needs to be relevant; not just eye catching. By presenting more general content more frequently and only displaying specific information on demand or when a certain stimulus (touch/presence) is detected, greater relevance and more useful information is presented to the viewer than can ever be justified by page views or counts. Analytics can be added to study the flow of activities by the user and help identity decision characteristics yet to be known. More so, when a user interface such as a form is available, such a medium offers a more accessible data entry experience to the user.
Product comparison and configuration tools are very popular on websites that offer a large portfolio of products and services. Providing basic sliders and knobs, such simple controls aid in the understanding of the choices and options available. Customization may be a central theme online but in the real world it may be very hard to illustrate or explain options or the end result without resorting to collateral such as brochures, literatures and such. An Interactive display follows the same premise as their online counterparts except that the experience can be more social (with a guide or with other users), more accessible (large touch surface displays) and more vivid (high definition and 3D).
