One display for all users
Multitouch is one of the enabling technologies used for our multi user platforms. The freedom of being able to select and take over controls between one user and another is crucial to achieving total participation. Users congregating and working on one shared space naturally scale to the total available space. However problems exist when views are statically oriented, limiting the perspective to individuals on one side of the display.
Our platforms can detect which hands belong to whom allowing us to build applications that orient intelligently. This allows each individual the comfort and freedom of maximum work space and ensures each user against the table has an optimal and equal perspective to the view.
Collaboration Environments
A solution exists when eyes are framed at every angle. A platform that allows users to interact with one shared view within the same shared space is a more effective conduit for collaboration than any other physical or virtual medium. A multitouch display surface provides an uncluttered, paperless and all more important shared environment for collaboration between 2 or more people. Often the collaboration process requires the constant switching back and forth between roles and whether this involves the talking stick, the whiteboard marker, or the mouse and keyboard, it makes sense to remove as many barriers to such transitions as possible.
Our MARS prototype provides this effortless platform for working together. As both a large display and workspace, users can work with documents, pictures and maps in their original format or scaled to the ideal. When your two hands are all you will ever need to participate or exert controls, there is no better way to feel empowered in the process.
